ABOUT THE INCOMPARABLE
APRIL WINCHELL!

If April's voice sounds familiar, we wouldn't be surprised. April has provided voices for projects like "The Simpsons", "Who Framed Roger Rabbit?", "Antz", "Men in Black" and "Toy Story 2", to name a few. She is the voice of classic Disney cartoon characters Cruella De Vil and Clarabelle Cow. She is currently completing work on the upcoming Disney animated series Tarzan" (taking over the role originated by Rosie O' Donnell). Cartoon voices are sort of a family business. Aprils father (the celebrated ventriloquist Paul Winchell) was the original voice of "Tigger". Some of his other well-known voices are Fleagle from "The Banana Splits", Gargamel from "The Smurfs" and The famous Dow Scrubbing Bubble ("We do the work, so you don't have toooooo!")

April is also a writer
In addition to having written for "Roseanne", April has created hundreds of radio commercials, winning every major advertising award in the world along the way. She is perhaps best known as the "Glendale Federal Lady", and is currently one of the popular California Cheese cows. These award wining commercials were written, voiced and produced by April through her radio production company. To hear some of these commercials, visit the Radio Savant Productions web site. The Glendale campaign was very successful and gathered a lot of attention for April. Here are some of the extremely glamorous Hollywood things that happened to her during that heady time:

  • HBO rejected her ideas for being "too conceptual".
  • An 83 year old talent manager told her she was "too old".
  • Les Moonves, President of CBS Television (and the man who brought you "Diagnosis Murder") told April her ideas weren't hip.
  • Tom Leykis told his listeners, "If you ever see this woman, push her down."
  • Bill Handel did an hour program about April. She called in, but couldn't get past the screener.

An accomplished musical comedy actress, April has had starring roles in two Columbia Artists national tours. She also starred as Mama Rose opposite Kevin Spacey in "Gypsy", and will be only too happy to tell anyone about the time they had sex in the back of her Honda Civic. Recently, April enjoyed a sold-out run of her one woman show at the Roxy Theatre. The show was presented by Lily Tomlin and Jane Wagner.

Up until late 2002 April had one of the most innovative, brilliant radio shows ever produced, however the rat bastards at Clear Channel and brain dead execs at LA radio station KFI, were offended by her irreverent humor, and threw her off the air.  It is a loss for us, but April will be back.. you can't stop a treasured talent like that.

ABOUT APRIL'S EBAY AUCTIONS FOR CHARITY
Every week, April bleeds her industry friends for Hollywood-style memorabilia, which she then auctions on E-bay to benefit Project Angel Food. You never know what's going to be in her auctions, but you always know it's going to be good. So who exactly gives her this stuff? She can't say. "If I told you, then you'd know they listen to my show. And then they would lose all credibility".
